Phoenix is the capital and most populous city of Arizona. With an estimated population of more than 1.5 million, Phoenix also is the fifth largest city in the US.
During recent years, dozens of major high-tech and telecommunications companies have migrated to Phoenix. The city is home to several major Fortune 1000 companies, including Avnet and Apollo Group. Internet companies – such as AOL, Google and eBay –also have established offices in Phoenix.
Due to its notably warm climate in the winter, Phoenix has a booming seasonal tourism and golf industry. In addition, the city has a multitude of professional sports franchises, including representatives of all four major professional sports leagues in the nation – the most popular being the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Phoenix Suns .
