George Trappey III is a Managing Director of The McLean Group’s Baton Rouge office. He has more than 30 years of experience working with the owners of closely-held businesses. As a tax partner in the CPA firm of Broussard, Poch, Lewis & Breaux, LLP (BPLB) his areas of expertise included small business accounting, individual and business taxation and business valuation. He has worked with many small business owners advising them about the business and tax aspects of buying and selling businesses. Mr. Trappey joined the firm in 1973 and became a partner in 1977.
From 1981 until 1985 he worked as the VP, Finance for an independent oil and gas drilling contractor in southern Louisiana. His responsibilities included overseeing all accounting and financial aspects of the business. In 1985 Mr. Trappey co-founded the CPA firm of Crochet, Trappey & Company. This firm merged with BPLB in 1989. He retired from the firm in 2007.
Mr. Trappey is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he earned a BS degree in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting. He has been designated a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). He has received an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Certificate of Educational Achievement (CEA) in Business Valuation and Tax Planning & Advising for Closely-Held Businesses.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Louisiana Society of CPAs and NACVA.
