David Grooms
David Grooms is an experienced CEO with a substantial background at both large public and small emerging technology companies. His strong strategic business orientation and ability to communicate concisely to customers, employees, investors and a board demonstrated leadership credibility. He showed his expertise within the telecommunications and semiconductor industry when he established a relationship with Qualcomm that led to the acquisition of Qualcomm's handset business. He also has significant international experience with emphasis on Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Mr. Grooms is currently a Managing Partner of Torrey Pines Management Group, an investment group with three portfolio companies under direct management. Prior to this, he was CEO of Zucotto Wireless Inc. Before that, he acted as President and CEO of Shellcase Inc. whose primary market focused on micro camera modules, optical sensors and MEMs for cellular phone applications.
Prior to Shellcase, Mr. Grooms was President of Kyocera America, Inc. There, he was responsible for all aspects of operations with sales of $625 million and 2,000 employees in ten locations in the U.S. and Mexico. He led the development of strategy into the telecommunications market.
Mr. Grooms has a Bachelor in History from Bowling Green State University. He is part of several boards and advisory boards, including Silicon Logic Engineering and TSR Technologies.
