Gary Underhill is a Managing Director of The McLean Group’s Wooster office. He brings to The McLean Group more than 30 years of diversified experience in a variety of business areas. During his career, Mr. Underhill has been involved in the paper industry, garage door industry, auto dealership environment, plastics, lumber and telephone manufacturing. Although his education was centered on finance, he held various other business roles. His positions as CFO, CEO, Project Accountant, Traffic Manager, Sales Service Manager and Plant Foreman have given him an in-depth view of organizations from a variety perspectives.

Mr. Underhill’s transaction expertise has encompassed a large variety of industries, including retail, distribution, manufacturing and service.

As a CEO in the Garage Door Manufacturing and Distribution business, Mr. Underhill grew a company from $27 million in sales to $130 million and a 12-percent market share increase during a seven-year period. Following this business’ growth, he was the majority owner of three Chrysler dealerships in Ohio with gross sales of more than $25 million per year.

He served with the First Infantry Division in Vietnam and was the Chief Programmer for the division. During his tour he was instrumental in converting all of the division computer systems to paper tape.

Mr. Underhill is a Certified Business Valuator (CBV) holding the AVA designation from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). He is a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) registered representative (Series 7, 63).

He holds a Masters in Business Management from Central Michigan University and an undergraduate degree in Business with a specialization in Finance from Ohio University.
